Full-time Insurance Defense Paralegal Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation and possess a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal
  • Conduct initial case assessments and gather relevant information from clients and insurance carriers
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses
  • Manage and organize case files, both electronic and physical
  • Prepare and maintain litigation calendars, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of deposition summaries and trial exhibits
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and manage their involvement in cases
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
  • Attend court hearings and assist attorneys during trials when necessary
  • Maintain accurate billing records and assist with invoice preparation
Required:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal in insurance defense litigation
  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and insurance defense practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with case management software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms and tools
  • Familiarity with state and federal court filing systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to review medical records
  • Experience in multiple areas of insurance defense (e.g., personal injury, property damage, professional liability)
