Full-time Insurance Defense Paralegal Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation and possess a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities- Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal
- Conduct initial case assessments and gather relevant information from clients and insurance carriers
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses
- Manage and organize case files, both electronic and physical
- Prepare and maintain litigation calendars, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations
- Assist in the preparation of deposition summaries and trial exhibits
- Coordinate with expert witnesses and manage their involvement in cases
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Attend court hearings and assist attorneys during trials when necessary
- Maintain accurate billing records and assist with invoice preparation
- 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal in insurance defense litigation
- Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and insurance defense practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with case management software
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and tools
- Familiarity with state and federal court filing systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to review medical records
- Experience in multiple areas of insurance defense (e.g., personal injury, property damage, professional liability)
