Job Description
The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), an agency of the judicial branch of the federal government, is committed to serving and supporting the U.S. federal court system and the public it serves. The AO provides a broad range of legislative, legal, financial, technical, management, administrative, and program support services to the federal courts.
Duties OPPORTUNITY: The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) is seeking student interns with backgrounds or demonstrated interest in human resources, public affairs, law, business administration (marketing, budget, accounting, etc.), and information technology. The AO Student Internship Program provides valuable work experience and prepares interns for careers in public service. Interns have opportunities to hone their writing, communication, research, analytical, logical, multi-tasking, and customer service skills and receive valuable networking opportunities with fellow interns, agency employees, and other government employers. All internships at the AO are onsite at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building (TMFJB) and telework is not permitted. 1. Compiling historical research materials for the Judicial Conference Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System and the Committee on the Administration of the Magistrate Judges System to include separate, searchable databases including: All committee meeting agendas. Summaries of committee reports to the Judicial Conference. A catalogue of committee actions by subject matter/topic. 2. Updating internal historical documents tracking Judicial Conference approval of changes to magistrate judge positions recommended by the Committee on the Administration of the Magistrate Judges System.
