Victim Services Internship - Office of the Attorney General

The Office of the Attorney General invites college students or recent graduates to apply for our Victim Services Internship. This opportunity will allow interns to learn from our Victim Services Coordinators.

Internships are unpaid. Both full-time and part-time internships are available. We do not offer remote, virtual, or telecommuting internships at this time. Please speak with the hiring manager when contacted for an interview about the internship duration.

Internships may count toward school credits. Contact your school's internship coordinator or your academic advisor for more information regarding credit eligibility.

Responsibilities

Duties depend largely on the division in which the student is placed, but may include:

  • Assisting attorneys or paralegals in case or policy research
  • Attending meetings, hearings, or court cases as you job-shadow attorneys
  • Reviewing and analyzing statutes
  • Supporting the office in special projects

  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Communicating effectively in writing.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Supplemental Information

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
