The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma is seeking experienced, motivated attorneys to join our Civil Division. This announcement will be used to fill an immediate vacancy. First cutoff Sunday August 3, 2025, and thereafter as needed until filled or closed, whichever date is first. This position is located in Muskogee, Oklahoma. This announcement may be used to fill other permanent appointments and vacancies as needed.
Duties Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Civil Divison are responsible for legal research and writing, directing investigations, case development, and case presentation and resolution. Defensive practice areas include personal injury and wrongful death, employment discrimination, constitutional torts, medical malpractice, and immigration. Affirmative practice areas include the investigation and prosecution of civil actions under statutes such as the False Claims Act, Controlled Substances Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act. Our Civil Division represents the United States, its agencies, officers, and employees in civil actions in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. To be an effective Civil AUSA, the successful candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work closely with federal, state, local and tribal agencies. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma (USAOKE) serves as the chief federal law enforcement office in the Eastern District of Oklahoma and is accountable to the citizens of the Eastern District for pursuing justice, ensuring public safety, enforcing the law, protecting the interests of the United States, and exercising stewardship of the government's resources. The Eastern District is comprised of 26 counties in eastern and southern Oklahoma, ranging from southeast of Tulsa, Oklahoma to the Texas border and from the Arkansas border to Carter County on the west. Salary- $73,939 - $190,000/year
