The Senior Director - Firmwide Initiatives & Advisory Services is responsible for overseeing and driving key firmwide initiatives, and ensuring alignment with our long-term business objectives. This position is  responsible for managing the firm’s strategic initiatives, scaling cross-functional programs, leading alternative legal services, and guiding firmwide working groups and special projects. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with deep experience in program management, legal services innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. Essential job functions include:

Firmwide Initiative Oversight & Program Management Office (PMO)

  • Lead the firm’s Program Management Office (PMO), overseeing the execution of high-impact strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement processes to prioritize, manage, and measure firmwide initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to align programs with the firm’s growth strategy, operational goals, and client service priorities.
  • Serve as a thought leader on best practices in program execution, governance, and change management.
  • Lead and coordinate working groups on firmwide priorities, ensuring structured progress and accountability.
  • Provide strategic guidance on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Act as a key facilitator, bringing together stakeholders across the firm to solve complex challenges and drive change.

Cross-Functional Program Development & Execution

  • Design, launch, and scale cross-functional programs that drive firm innovation and efficiency.
  • Build frameworks and operational structures that enable smooth collaboration across legal, business, and administrative functions.
  • Establish objectives and key results (OKRs) to measure success and refine programs for long-term impact.
  • Provide executive oversight to ensure programs are resourced effectively and delivering expected outcomes.

Leadership of Alternative Legal Services (HB Consulting)

  • Oversee the firm’s HB Consulting group, ensuring its continued growth and alignment with client needs.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for innovation in legal service delivery, technology integration, and alternative fee models.
  • Foster collaboration between traditional legal practices and alternative legal service offerings to enhance firm capabilities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand HB Consulting’s service offerings, market reach, and revenue impact.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 15+ years of experience in strategic leadership, program management, or legal operations, preferably within a professional services environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive large-scale initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Strong experience in alternative legal services, legal operations, or business transformation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and executive presence, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Deep understanding of law firm operations, client service models, and emerging trends in legal service delivery.
  • Demonstrated success in change management, organizational leadership, and strategic planning.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to build consensus across diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Data-driven decision-making and experience leveraging technology to drive efficiencies.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving in complex, fast-paced environments.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • State of California: $222,000 - $432,000
  • State of Colorado: $204,000 - $371,000
  • State of Illinois: $201,000 - $397,000
  • State of Maryland: $215,000 - $332,000
  • State of Massachusetts: $222,000 - $432,000
  • State of Minnesota: $222,000 - $374,000
  • Jersey City, NJ: $241,000 - $445,000
  • State of New York: $207,000 - $455,000
  • State of Washington: $215,000 - $416,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $286,000 - $429,000

 

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
