CRIMINAL BUREAU
GAMING ENFORCEMENT DIVISION
BOSTON OFFICE/MALDEN DISTRICT COURT

The Attorney General’s Office is looking for a highly motivated individual with a commitment to public service to serve as a prosecutor in the Gaming Enforcement Division within the Criminal Bureau, in the Malden District Court (located in Medford, MA). The Gaming Enforcement Division is a statewide team of prosecutors, investigators, and administrative and other staff, partnered with the Massachusetts State Police, and charged with investigating and prosecuting gaming-related crimes pursuant to G.L. c. 12, § 11M.

Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) will be involved in investigating and prosecuting criminal conduct related to expanded gaming in the Commonwealth, including violations of G.L. c. 23K, G.L. c. 23N, G.L. c. 267A, and G.L. c. 271, and other illegal activity, such as gaming-related financial crime, cheating, public order offenses, and other criminal activity occurring at the casino. The work in this position will originate from crimes occurring at Encore Boston Harbor, and the AAG will be assigned to and appear daily in Malden District Court.
The AAG will be expected to handle a large District Court caseload and will be charged with leading and coordinating investigations and prosecutions with the Massachusetts State Police and Everett Police in conjunction with other prosecutors, financial investigators, victim/witness advocates, paralegals, and support staff. Division members work closely with the State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit assigned to both the Attorney General’s Office and the Gaming Commission, as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, which demands a demonstrated history of successful partnerships with other law enforcement agencies. Additional duties will include screening potential cases, fostering relationships with industry stakeholders, participating in trainings, and working cohesively with others in the Attorney General’s Office and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.
All employees assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division are subject to the Enhanced Code of Ethics adopted pursuant to G.L. c. 12, § 11M(c). 

 

Position Type:  Full-Time/Exempt. 

Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office

Salary: $84,134-$125,572 commensurate with JD year and experience.

Position Requirements: 

 • Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
• At least two (2) years of litigation and trial experience as an attorney.
• Must be willing to learn, eager to be challenged, and comfortable appearing in court.
• Effective and written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build bridges with stakeholders and be a team player.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, disciplined and ethical with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
• A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required and ability to travel anywhere in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to support investigations and litigation is required.
