Job Description

The Information Technology Specialist 4 position requires considerable working knowledge of computers and electronics in order to troubleshoot and/or provide maintenance for Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical issues. The successful candidate will provide advanced IT support and service to information system users. They will possess exceptional technical knowledge as well as an extremely professional and positive demeanor. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is 30 E. Broad St., Columbus. The duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as Lead Technician for lower-level support staff providing guidance/support for issues
  • Serves as first point of contact for all ITS related requests for Columbus State Office Tower
  • Monitors lower-level support staff tracking system assignments and adjusts priorities as assigned by management
  • Installs, maintains, configures, upgrades and/or administers hardware and/or software.
  • Diagnoses, analyzes and resolves issues for customer(s).
  • Acts as liaison between users, vendors, and Information Technology Services staff to include executives and managers.
  • Creates and captures images and/or reimages equipment in preparation of deployment.
  • Maintains records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities. 
  • Evaluates local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Provides project management support.
  • Resolves data conflicts and inappropriate use of data.
  • Performs quality checks across various IT functions to ensure efficiency and quality of agency business operations.
  • Performs advanced-level training for clients on individual or group basis (e.g. software, hardware, and networks).
  • Promotes system security and awareness by adhering to the Agency's security policy and standards.
  • Provides knowledge transfer and technical instruction to employees on regularly maintained or newly enhanced systems and/or processes.
  • Stays current regarding new technologies, standards, and techniques and learn and/or acquires new skills as required.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio’s past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state’s future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education\: Core undergraduate program in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience. AND Experience\: Minimum 4 years combined work experience in any combination of the following\: installing, monitoring/maintaining, configuring, upgrading, and/or administering/operating multiple technology domains; AND a minimum of 2 years Oracle database experience. 

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Preferred Qualifications\: 

-Experience working as a liaison between users, vendors, executives and IT management

-Experience working in high pressure environments with focus on both customer service and providing quality service

-Experience with project management and assisting clients

-Experience with technical instruction of both clients and peers within an IT group

-Proven ability to demonstrate diplomacy and strong verbal and written communication skills when reporting on project status to higher level staff and when communicating with clients and staff

-Ability to serve as a lead worker to provide guidance to lower level technical staff

-Experience working with SQL
