Program Summary
The mission of the Legal Services team is to provide direct legal services to our most vulnerable community members. We are a multidisciplinary team with Immigration Law, Disability Law, and Family Law units. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with and receive mentorship from attorneys with diverse specialties, credentials, and experiences across these disciplines.
Position Summary
The Washington State Immigration Attorney will self-manage a case load of both affirmative and removal defense cases.
Essential Functions
- Research, prepare, and provide culturally responsive representation to clients on a variety of immigration matters, including but not limited to:
- Naturalization
- Adjustment of Status
- Employment Authorization
- VAWA, U, & T visas.
- Asylum and Withholding of Removal or Cancellation of Removal
- SIJS Predicate Orders
- Motions to Change Venue
- Prosecutorial Requests
- Represent clients at USCIS interviews and court hearings
- Maintain client records and data on case management software in compliance with standards determined by IRCO, program funders, legal requirements
- Uphold all professional standards consistent with the profession of Lawyer/Attorney, including a high level of confidentiality.
Secondary Functions
- Participate in legal clinics, know your rights presentations, and other community education and engagement events.
- Communicate and collaborate with immigration community navigators and local non-profit legal service providers.
- Assist with projects and other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
- Licensure with the Oregon State Bar or another state bar preferred.
- Experience in immigration law (1+ years required)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and online legal research.
- Must be able to pass criminal history background check.
- Strong attention to detail.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication skills in a multilingual, multicultural organization
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-starting with a flexible growth mindset
- Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities.
- Fluency in another language other than English, Spanish preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities
