JOB PURPOSE
To provide high quality, time sensitive advice and negotiate commercially and legally acceptable agreements with Landowners’ counsel with respect to real estate matters associated with the Company’s development, acquisition and portfolio projects; to train, oversee and mentor more junior members of the department on tasks relating to providing legal advice to the Company and its deal teams in relation to the Company’s real estate and other transactions, including preparing and negotiating and overseeing the preparation by junior members of the team land and facility control documents, including dealing with minerals matters, analyzing legal issues for title and survey needs, preparing and negotiating curative documentation to resolve title insurance coverage matters, providing legal review and analysis on other transactions as needed, including evaluation of real estate aspects of acquisition opportunities and M&A opportunities, working with developers and the development staff and other Company counsel to resolve all types of real estate issues and obtaining required internal approvals for real estate transactions.
Key Accountabilities
- Reviews, drafts, and negotiates real estate agreements for electric transmission, solar, and wind facilities (including maintenance and upkeep of the Company’s form agreements) to ensure the Company’s land control and other property rights are protected and enforceable. Include more junior Group members for educational opportunities.
- Assists and coordinates with AGC, Real Estate, to adhere to the company’s acceptable terms for real estate agreements.
- Works closely with and advises developers and coordinates with landowners’ and investment partners’ counsel to resolve legal issues that arise for electric transmission, solar, and wind projects.
- Consult with local counsel on state real estate law issues to ensure compliance of real estate agreements with state law.
- Work closely with title companies and surveyors to ensure acceptable quality of work is being produced promptly
- Research various states’ real estate laws as needed on particular issues
- Manages real estate aspects for electric transmission, solar and wind projects
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- 10-15 years of legal experience
- with an emphasis on real estate law and development work
The expected starting pay range for this role is $160,000 - $ 210,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
