
- Stay abreast of applicable federal and state law affecting the company’s products through diligent tracking and research.
- Evaluate the impact of laws, regulatory guidance, enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on company’s products and services.
- Support the product development and change management process and partner with management to implement strategies that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in various industry groups related to the company’s insurance and non-insurance products.
- Research and draft memoranda to senior and executive management on relevant legal and regulatory issues.
- Serve as the point of contact for questions related to company product compliance from internal and external clients.
- Negotiate and draft agreements for complex commercial transactions, including supplier, client, and partner contractual agreements.
- Develop and enhance contract templates for use by company business units for the provision of products and services to ensure compliance with applicable law and accuracy of operational terms.
- Examine the terms and conditions of all contracts in detail, analyzing terms to identify any potential risks or concerns and assessing the fairness and enforceability of contractual terms.
- Scrutinize contractual obligations in dispute and advise on resolution mechanisms that safeguard the company’s legal rights and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to monitor, anticipate, and mitigate potential legal risks affecting the company.
- Conduct business change risk assessments related to legal and compliance (i.e., new products/services, process changes, strategic initiatives, regulatory changes, etc.).
- Work cross-functionally to drive remediation efforts for identified risks.
- Develop and implement of policies and procedures on a range of corporate compliance matters affecting third party financial service providers and perform ongoing monitoring of said compliance initiatives.
- Recommend improvements and changes to company’s compliance policies and procedures.
- Juris Doctorate required.
- Active law license, admitted to the Indiana State Bar or the State Bar of at least one other US jurisdiction required.
- 11+ years of directly related work experience required.
