The Legal Department of IFC (CLED), under the Vice President and General Counsel, Legal and Institutional Risk and Governance, provides legal and policy advice to the IFC Board, its Management and client departments on operational, advisory, and corporate matters. CLED supports client departments in (i) the delivery of IFC’s annual program of financing private sector projects in emerging markets, advisory services, as well as early stage engagements and pre-investment project development work to identify opportunities for private sector investments and creating markets (“Upstream”); (ii) project portfolio management (including jeopardy projects and projects in litigation); (iii) the delivery and design of structured finance products, sub-national lending, equity and quasi-equity and public-private partnerships, and investments in funds, as well as platform products; (iv) advising on corporate policy and operational matters; and (v) knowledge management and training.
We are seeking a highly qualified legal professional to join our team, focusing on machine learning and artificial intelligence projects. The position of ET Consultant is based at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) headquarters in Washington, DC. This role entails providing comprehensive legal counsel and support for our AI initiatives and will report directly to the Chief Counsel, Legal Operations. The successful candidate must possess extensive experience in technology law and legal operations, particularly related to AI and machine learning, strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex legal issues within a corporate environment.
Role and Responsibilities
Automation of Document Generation
• Oversee, develop, and monitor the legal team's contract lifecycle management (CLM) process and automation of specimen, forms, and templates.
• Assist in identifying and implementing tools for the legal department to streamline new or existing specimen, forms, and templates. Additionally, manage design, rollout, and training on specimen documentation.
• Lead the legal team through Phase 2 (CLM) rollout, ensuring the preparation of the final Design Document for CLM and the Final Design Workbook.
• Supervise change management activities for CLED and other assigned responsibilities and tasks related to the aforementioned duties.
• Drive departmental initiatives, including the development and redesign of legal support processes to increase efficiencies and better align to the changing needs of the business
• Refine templates and playbooks
• Partner with IT and Onit Support to identify, address, and escalate technical issues with Onit CLM.
• Coordinate onboarding and training sessions, ensuring new staff have access to legal tools, documents, and various training programs.
• Develop and deliver presentations and training sessions for clients and colleagues
AI and Machine Learning Projects
• Commercial Agreements: Negotiate, draft, and advise on complex commercial agreements supporting various AI and product teams.
• Template Refinement: Refine templates and playbooks to ensure they are up-to-date and in line with best practices.
• Departmental Initiatives: Drive departmental initiatives, including the development and redesign of legal support processes to increase efficiencies and better align with the changing needs of the business, including through the use of AI tools.
• Tracking Development: Track the development of automation of legal documents and develop ideas to encourage the advancement of automation and use of AI, including generative AI within CLED and the development of automation of the legal documents and developing ideas to encourage the development of automation within CLED.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-team legal colleagues and other internal stakeholders to align project outcomes with the company’s priorities.
• Client Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with clients to foster trust, collaboration, and alignment between business objectives and legal considerations.
• Client Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of clients’ operations, goals, and challenges to provide tailored legal advice on providing AI and automation solutions.
