General Job Summary: The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and managing legal risks.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to executive team, management, and other departments on a variety of legal matters.
- Responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, ensuring they align with the company policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure the company adheres to all applicable laws and regulations including HIPAA, Stark Law, and other relevant healthcare regulations.
- Risk management, to include identifying and mitigating legal risks related to patient care, privacy, and other healthcare operations.
- Provide advice and guidance on regulatory compliance, including licensing, provider enrollment, scope of practice, and billing / reimbursement.
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to healthcare operations and compliance.
- Assist with managing litigation, working with outside counsel when needed.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from accredited law school.
- 5 – 10 years of legal experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare law and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, and other relevant statutes.
- Experience with contract negotiation and drafting, particularly in the context of healthcare.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in litigation management.
- Ability to stay current with changes in healthcare laws and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds.
- Ability to concentrate on details.
- Use of computer for long periods of time.
