
Our San Diego, California office is currently seeking an experienced Paralegal.
AVA Law Group is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and skilled paralegal to join our dynamic team in San Diego. We are looking for a paralegal with 3-5 years of experience who will be responsible for performing paralegal and administrative duties in support of our civil litigation and mass tort attorneys. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of client cases, including case intake, discovery, trial preparation, settlement negotiations, etc.
- Manage large volumes of plaintiff cases, including document organization, evidence tracking, and case status monitoring.
- Draft, review, and file legal documents such as complaints, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
- Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and summarize findings for attorney review.
- Coordinate case deadlines, court filings, and scheduling to ensure compliance with procedural rules.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, medical providers, and court personnel to facilitate case progress.
- Gather and organize medical records, authorization documents, and substantiation documents in mass tort matters.
- Utilize case management software to track cases and update databases.

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a paralegal; litigation experience preferred.
- Familiarity with legal document drafting and e-filing.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat.
Note: Under California law (Business & Professions Code §6450), applicants must meet the minimum educational and/or experiential requirements to use the title “Paralegal.”
You must meet one of the following criteria:
- ABA-Approved Program: Complete a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA).
- Accredited Institution: Complete a paralegal program or degree from a postsecondary institution that requires at least 24 semester units in law-related courses and is accredited by a recognized accrediting organization.
- Bachelor's Degree Plus Experience: Hold a bachelor's or advanced degree in any subject, coupled with at least one year of law-related experience under the supervision of a qualified attorney.
- High School Diploma Plus Experience: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of three years of law-related experience under attorney supervision. Note: This pathway was only valid if completed before December 31, 2003.
