The Missouri Attorney General's Office (AGO) is actively seeking a Director of Sunshine Law Outreach. The AGO administers the state's Sunshine Law through enforcement and education. The Director of Sunshine Law Outreach will work with the public regarding complaints filed against local governmental entities while operating independently and on a team to conduct education and training on the Sunshine Law.
Strong candidates will have a demonstrated interest or experience working in public records and the Missouri Sunshine Law, communicating with state and local governmental agencies, and possess strong constituent services skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Processing and reviewing complaints alleging violations of the Sunshine Law by governmental bodies;
- Working with the Office's attorneys to investigate complaints;
- Overseeing education, outreach, and training initiatives about the Sunshine Law, including representing the AGO across the state by conducting regular presentations for the public, governmental bodies, and associations;
- Responding to a high volume of communications sent by a wide variety of parties, which may include citizens, attorneys, legislative staff, media, and associations; and
- Assist with special projects, which may include ensuring the compliance with the AGO's obligations under the State of Missouri's records retention and disposition laws and regulations.
This position requires strong organizational, time management, presentation, and communication skills as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office suite programs. Experience with records management is preferred, but not required.
This position will involve regular travel within Missouri. Candidates with relevant experience and education will be considered for an interview.
