- DESCRIPTION
The Union County Clerk of Courts is now hiring a part-time Court of Appeals Legal Deputy Clerk in the Clerk of Courts Office to work approximately 25 hours/week. Under general supervision of the Office Manager, Civil/Domestic Manager, Criminal Manager and administrative direction of the Clerk of Courts, processes and issues documents for the Third District Court of Appeals, Civil/Domestic, and Criminal Divisions. Also performs records management duties, provides assistance to the public, and answers the phone.

- QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of secondary education or equivalent; two (2) - four (4) years' experience in customer service, general office keeping, or bookkeeping; ability to work quickly and accurately; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be able to complete a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation process.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Continuing education classes as needed.

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment ( e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); works in and around crowds; may have contact with emotional or distraught people; occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on even and uneven surfaces; occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects 25 lbs. or less.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(1) Processes Court of Appeal Cases filed in the Third District Court of Appeals; processes Notice of Appeals, Record on Appeals, Briefs, Orders, Judgment Entries, and Opinions issued from the Court of Appeals, etc. Works closely with the Marysville Municipal Court, the Union County Court of Common Pleas General, Juvenile, and Probate Offices.
(2) Processes new and reopened cases for the Criminal, Civil, and Domestic Division ( e.g., receipts, fees, determines case type, assigns a case number); receives and processes documents for new and pending cases; processes orders and entries in a timely manner; generates and issues summons, subpoenas, orders/decisions, or other forms to parties and attorneys; notifies Court of any parties' objections to decisions/orders; maintains cases list and tracks progress of cases; maintains case files with current information.
(3) Performs public relations duties; answers and directs incoming calls; responds to incoming public; follows all orders of the Court of Common Pleas and carries out orders of the court; responds to and assists court, attorneys, and general public; performs record checks for Government and/or Local agencies; delivers necessary papers to Sheriff and Police Departments throughout county; works with Marysville Municipal Court with felony cases; works with other offices to efficiently carry out duties of Clerk's Office ( e.g., Recorder, Auditor, Common Pleas Court, Adult Probation, Treasurer, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Child Support Agency, etc.)
(4) Performs secretarial and clerical tasks (e.g., maintains lists and records; receives and receipts monies collected; assists other clerical staff with programs; etc.); maintains office equipment.
(5) Maintains required licensures and certification, if any.
(6) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
(7) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
