Umbra is looking for a talented and motivated Legal Operations Specialist to join our Legal team. This individual will play a crucial role in streamlining operations and enhancing the efficiency of our group, supporting our mission to lead the industry.
The Legal Operations Specialist will report to the Vice President, Head of Legal, and collaborate across all company groups. We seek a proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable individual to help us optimize our legal operations.
Our aim is to hire this position in to work in Umbra's Santa Barbara, CA or Arlington, VA office, in a hybrid role. However, we are open to considering Remote applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Legal group’s strategic plan, aligning it with the company's overall business strategy.
- Provide robust support for contract management, including drafting, reviewing, tracking contracts, ensuring compliance, and managing databases.
- Oversee relationships with external legal service providers, manage their performance, and enhance cost-efficiency.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and support the preparation of regulatory submissions.
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of legal technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance productivity while ensuring data security.
- Collaborate with the Vice President, Head of Legal, to manage the legal department's budget, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of legal operations.
- Develop and maintain a centralized repository of team knowledge, including templates, guidelines, and best practices.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the legal team.
- Analyze data trends, key metrics, and KPIs to identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in other projects as needed and contribute your skills where applicable.
- Perform other professional tasks as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, legal studies, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in legal operations or legal project management, with a strong understanding of contract management, legal technology, and vendor management.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency with legal software and systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Scaled Agile framework.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and innovative environment.
