Family Law Attorney (High-Stakes, Complex Domestic)


§ Practice Area: High-Stakes Divorce, Complex Domestic Litigation, ADR Advocacy

§ Location: Pleasanton, San Mateo, or San Jose CA

§ Salary: $175,000 to $225,000 Base Salary

(Plus performance-based incentives and a comprehensive executive benefits package)

§ Schedule: Hybrid work policy, Direct-Hire, Minimum 1,850 hours annual billed,

§ Attorney Duties

The individual selected for this critical role will lead a diverse array of domestic relations matters, ranging from foundational family law to high-net-worth dissolutions involving complex financial architecture. The role demands a practitioner who is equally adept at zealous courtroom advocacy and patient negotiations of highly sensitive and personal matters.


The core responsibilities include:

⨖ Leading high-value Marital Dissolutions involving intricate asset portfolios, including family businesses, venture capital, stock options, foreign assets, and complex real estate holdings.

⨖ Executing litigation strategy for contested Child Custody, parentage actions, and domestic violence restraining order proceedings, representing both petitioners and respondents.

⨖ Designing and drafting sophisticated Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements to safeguard property interests and ensure long-term enforceability.

⨖ Representing clients in Guardianship and Adoption proceedings, including independent and step-parent adoptions.

⨖ Managing all phases of the litigation lifecycle, from initial filing through trial and post-judgment modifications of support and custody orders.


§ Qualifications

Candidates must possess the technical acumen and professional maturity required to manage a sophisticated caseload independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

⨖ Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited Law School with a distinguished academic record.

⨖ Active Bar License in good standing with the State Bar of California.

⨖ A minimum of four (4) years of substantive experience in matrimonial and family law, with a demonstrable track record in litigation.

⨖ Experience handling "complex" issues such as business valuations, tax implications of dissolution, and multi-jurisdictional assets.

⨖ Exceptional drafting skills and the ability to navigate high-conflict interpersonal dynamics with professional poise.

⨖ Proven experience in a courtroom setting, including trial preparation and the presentation of evidence.

⨖ Exceptional writing and analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts into compelling briefs and motions.


§ Skills

The following credentials and attributes are highly preferred and will distinguish top-tier applicants:

⨖ Current status as a California Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS) or an active track toward certification.

⨖ Specific experience in Domestic Violence advocacy, including the nuances of temporary restraining orders and protective custody.

⨖ Advanced proficiency in mediation and settlement negotiation, prioritizing "cost-effective" and "efficient" resolutions for clients.

⨖ A nuanced understanding of the intersection between family law and other practice areas, such as tax, estate planning, and corporate law.

⨖ Superior interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide grounded counsel to clients navigating highly emotional and sensitive transitions.

⨖ Advanced proficiency in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques.
