JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to Vice President, Legal, this employee will serve within the Company’s legal department as an in-house attorney. The employee will (i) draft, review and negotiate contracts and provide advice in connection with capital markets, M&A and/or financing transactions while working closely with various groups within the company, (ii) oversee and manage outside lawyers, and (iii) assist with internal corporate governance.
The employee will be actively involved in the development of new projects which may include LNG and natural gas sales, vessel chartering, regasification services, power plants and associated financings. Project development will require international travel. In developing new deals, the employee will assist the business team in project structuring and ensuring the deal is financeable. As projects are implemented, the employee will help monitor contractual obligations and oversee any disputes arising under the contracts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following activities:
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts in collaboration with various groups within the Company.
- Oversee existing contracts to ensure on-going compliance with contractual requirements.
- Play active role in coordination with various teams (finance, operations, commercial, other) to ensure proper legal involvement and coordination.
- Participate in meetings and calls to discuss contracts or new deals.
- Review and update standard legal templates.
- Be willing to travel (domestic US, South America, Europe), approximately 2-4 times per year.
WORK AUTHORIZATION: Candidates must be authorized to work in assigned location.

- Graduate of a highly ranked US law school or English law school (Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent).
- Licensed to practice law in the US.
- At least 5 years practicing as an attorney at an Am Law 100 or Magic Circle law firm in the M&A, capital markets or finance practice, or at a major international energy company, with specialization in the international energy industry (required) or specifically in the LNG industry (preferred).
