Position Summary:
Fried Frank is seeking to add a paralegal to support its Real Estate practice group. The paralegal will primarily assist with transactional commercial real estate deals representing sellers, buyers and/or lenders. The paralegal follows deals from their inception through all closing and post-closing phases as described below, and will work closely with partners, associates, clients and opposing counsel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the transaction documents throughout the course of a deal
- Arrange for UCC filings and lien searches, summarizing results for attorneys
- Review and revise documents at attorney’s direction, maintaining strict attention to detail
- Maintain checklists of documents needed for the closing of a transaction, ensuring that items are made available immediately upon request
- Coordinate execution of documents with all deal parties under supervision of attorney
- Organize documents into folders on Firm databases and other platforms as needed
- Form and qualify various types of business entities and maintaining their related organizational documents
- Order certified copies of documents relating to business entities
- Handle publication requirements
- Assist in filing transfer tax forms when transferring ownership
- Notarize transaction documents upon request
- Ensure all deals are processed to the practice group’s deal database
- Prepare closing binders consisting of all final transaction documents from closing, organized according to an index before delivery to outside parties
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience: Prior paralegal experience within a corporate legal setting is desirable. Real estate legal experience handling large-scale commercial transactions practice is strongly preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to be resourceful and coordinate all phases of a closing. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills. Professionalism and integrity. Must be able to organize and manage multiple priorities as well as effectively coordinate a heavy work flow. Strong problem solving skills. Ability to work under pressure with interruptions and tight deadlines and effectively manage stressful situations. Exercises sound judgment and possesses strong analytical and decision making abilities. Must be flexible, resourceful and detail oriented. Must be a team player and able to work effectively with attorneys, clients, management, peers and subordinates. Must be able to work extensive overtime. Proficiency with various software programs including Outlook, Word, and use of the Internet. All positions require punctuality and regular attendance.
The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
