We are Orbital  👋 an AI company on a mission to automate the legal segment of every property transaction in the world 🌍 We iterate rapidly to build products that utilize the bleeding-edge of Generative AI. Products that are powered by the latest foundation LLM’s (Large Language Models) including OpenAI’s GPT-4o, o1 and o3-mini along with Anthropic’s Claude and Google Gemini’s models. This places us at the forefront of THE most advanced technological advancements of our generation 🤖 We’re spearheading an unprecedented shift in how the world’s #1 asset class is transacted, globally.

Legal reasoning is a hard problem and requires some of the smartest and most experienced professionals to solve legal challenges for their clients. Because of this we will continue to push ahead and use the most intelligent and the fastest foundational models to build an AI Assistant that can provide accurate, efficient, and reliable support to legal professionals in the world of real estate.

Already the trusted ally of thousands of lawyers and commercial property professionals in the UK and US across a diverse spectrum of leading firms, our innovative solutions are used across global law practices including Goodwin Proctor, Ropes & Gray, BCLP, and Clifford Chance, as well as major title companies like Land Services USA. As we expand further into the U.S. market, we’re scaling our team to bring the same efficiency, accuracy, and automation that have transformed the industry in the UK to legal and real estate professionals across the country.

Bolstered by the support of industry giants, including some of the world's largest real estate, insurance companies and VC’s such as LocalGlobe, Seedcamp, JLL, First American, and Investec and on the back of our recent £7.5 million Series A funding round led by Parker89 🎉 , we’re on the lookout for exceptionally talented people to join us in shaping the future of property transactions.

Our vision 🏆

We believe that property transactions in this century shouldn't still rely on busy lawyers checking through documents and writing reports. We're building an automated AI solution for property diligence to make transactions more efficient and transparent for everyone.

Our mission 💪🏽

Our mission is to help any professional or individual involved in a property transaction to properly understand what they are getting into, from the outset, before incurring legal fees.

  • We give Power to our People 💪 (we give exceptional people autonomy to succeed)
  • We Question or Commit 🙋 (we welcome debate, but love reaching quick decisions)
  • … and we Eat that Frog! 🐸 (we take on the hardest thing first)

Requirements
Role Overview 🔎

Are you excited about using your experience to redefine how legal technology supports the property industry in the US? As a Legal Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in building and shaping our AI-powered legal assistant - Orbital Copilot. You will use your deep industry expertise to seek along side cutting edge Generative AI technology to transform how real estate law is practiced.

This role is ideal for a Real Estate Paralegal with a passion for commercial real estate, a deep understanding of legal and title company workflows, and an interest in technology and product.

You’ll get a chance to: 👩‍💻 👨‍💻

  • Take ownership of automating specific real estate legal workflows—from initial concept to successful implementation.
  • Join a dynamic global team, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment made up of Legal, AI and Software Engineers, where your expertise helps shape product direction and impact across the world of real estate in the US.
  • Build domain-specific knowledge bases and translating real-world legal processes into scalable workflows.
  • Contribute to the development of templates and automation blueprints for a variety of US real estate scenarios, such as due diligence for acquisitions, lease reviews, title and survey analysis, and beyond.
  • From researching jurisdiction-specific nuances in US property law to helping design features that align with how the real estate industry actually works, your input will directly inform how our product serves legal professionals.

Once you’re up and running, you’ll be expected to make meaningful contributions to our products’ success. It’s a challenging role - but highly rewarding - as we work to redefine how real estate transactions are completed across the US and beyond.

You should apply if: ✍️

  • You’re a Real Estate Paralegal with demonstrated experience in commercial real estate transactions, particularly involving acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, real estate finance and/or title and survey review.
  • You have at least 5+ years of commercial real estate experience in a law firm, title company or in-house, but strong candidates with less experience will still be considered.
  • You can break down real estate due diligence into structured, discrete tasks that can be clearly communicated to a machine or automated process.
  • You’re highly tech-literate, comfortable with learning new tools, and have a curious mindset when it comes to exploring how technology can support legal work.
  • You’re interested in AI, large language models, and how cutting-edge tools can be applied to the practice of real estate law.
  • You may not have done this exact type of role before (very few have!), but you’re resourceful, analytical, and motivated to build a career in LegalTech.

It would also be nice if you:

  • Are familiar with LegalTech software within a law firm preferably working with or managing a team of people who interact with AI.
  • Have dabbled with any programming, no-code tools, software integrations/plugins or complex SaaS tools for work or personal use hobbies.
  • Have some experience in-house as a Real Estate Paralegal

As part of our commitment to information security, all employees are expected to adhere to company security policies and procedures, participate in mandatory security awareness training, and ensure the secure handling of sensitive data in line with ISO 27001 standards. Reporting potential risks or incidents is a key part of fostering our culture of security and compliance.
