The Chambers Staff Attorney position review filed briefs, cases cited, and record, in appeals assigned to the chambers; conduct independent research on the issues presented; draft legal memoranda presenting the procedural history, arguments, and analysis of the issues; and review the judge’s drafted opinions for record accuracy and proper citation. Assigned appeals include criminal, civil, family, juvenile, and probate issues. Work is performed independently under the judge’s direction and general supervision.
Salary- $67,881.12/year
Candidates must have outstanding analytical, research, writing, editing, and citation skills. Top 20% law school grades preferred but not required. Law review/journal/moot court/trial team experience preferred but not required. Applicants with prior practice experience are also encouraged to apply.

Ability to analyze complicated factual details and complex legal issues independently and efficiently. Ability to handle multiple cases at the same time, and digest and communicate ideas and concepts in writing. Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality, impartiality, and honesty in handling matters before the court. Ability to work effectively with judges, attorneys, and non-attorneys on a daily basis. Ability to meet deadlines for legal memoranda without any time extensions.

The Fourth District Court of Appeal is located in downtown West Palm Beach. The Court is located across the street from the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail Station and approximately 1/2 mile (ten-minute walk) from the West Palm Beach Brightline Station. Hybrid in-person/remote work is considered.
Salary and Benefits
Chambers Staff Attorney – starting salary is $67,881.12; at least two years’ experience starting salary is $76,980.18.
