
Job Title: Assistant Public Defender

The Public Defender’s Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Public Defender. An employee in this position handles legal representation of adult/juvenile criminal cases in Dauphin County; provides representation of clients in all areas of law as assigned by the Chief Public Defender; is part of a trial team supervised by a Chief Deputy Public Defender. Provides representation at preliminary hearings, trial, Miscellaneous Court; handles Revocation hearings; Superior/Supreme Court appeals insofar as they pertain to those clients represented by the Public Defender’s Office through trial and sentencing; plus any other duties as assigned by either the Chief Public Defender, 1st Assistant or a Chief Deputy.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited law school. Admitted to practice before the Superior/Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania. Possesses the ability to communicate; has courtroom confidence, assertive nature, organization skills; has ability to handle heavy caseload.
This is a non-Union position.
