Trusts & Estates Legal Assistant

DeWitt LLP is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates or Real Estate and Business Legal Assistant to join our growing team in our Madison office. This position provides high-level support to attorneys in our Estate Planning and Trust Administration practice or able to assist with our Real Estate and Business practice and plays a key role in delivering exceptional service to our clients.

 

Position Summary

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in supporting attorneys in estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters. This role requires strong technical skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, marital property agreements, and related documents
  • Draft real estate and business documents, including deeds, real estate transfer returns, offers to purchase and purchase and sale documents
  • Prepare probate and trust administration filings and supporting documents
  • Coordinate asset transfers and beneficiary designations
  • Assist with preparation and organization of estate and trust accountings
  • Maintain and manage client files (electronic and physical)
  • Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and courts in a professional manner
  • Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and scheduling
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with firm procedures and applicable regulations


Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in trusts and estates or estate planning support
  • Strong knowledge of probate and trust administration procedures or business and real estate transactions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal document management systems preferred
  • Excellent proofreading, grammar, and organizational skills
  • High degree of discretion in handling confidential client information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
