GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 


Elevate your career and find a healthy work-life balance by joining the Wyoming Office of the Attorney General.  We are currently seeking highly motivated, organized, and professional applicants for an accountant position.  This position will perform a variety of accounting activities associated with fiscal processing transactions in a timely and efficient manner.  This position will be responsible for processing various payments, contracts, and deposits for three (3) sections of the Attorney General's office.  Manage and track the department's accounts receivable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.


  • Process division procurement card (P-Card) payments monthly, verifying documentation, and correcting coding. Process division travel reimbursements. For each of these responsibilities, ensure appropriate paperwork is submitted promptly and accurate coding within WOLFS (State Accounting System, i.e., WOLFS).
  • Track all Law Office expenditures billable to other departments, prepare monthly invoices, and track payments to ensure the department is reimbursed.  Follow up with departments when payments are not received.
  • Update the state accounting system, communicate with the State Auditor's Office as needed, and maintain subsidiary records as required.
  • Provide backup for the division accountants as needed. The backup includes filing, processing payments of invoices, and other duties as assigned. This position also provides backup as needed for processing funds received in the CJIS section.
  • Prepare invoices for the Law Enforcement Academy for all advanced training courses. Track and record payments in the WOLFS accounting system and the Fiscal Invoice database.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES: 


Preference is given to applicants with a degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, accounting, or business/office administration
Preference is given to applicants with two years of progressive work experience in fiscal or payroll processing.


KNOWLEDGE:  
 

  • Knowledge of internal control processes.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and business principles.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Government Accounting.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act, state and department laws, policies, procedures, and rules, including the State of Wyoming Personnel Rules.
  • Knowledge of the WOLFS Accounting System.
  • Knowledge of office management and organization methods.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and general computer program applications, data management, and record-keeping.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations, organizing, communicating, and analyzing fiscal and payroll-related data.
  • Skill in professional, oral, and written communication.
  • Skill in gathering data and analytically reviewing it to answer questions and resolve problems.
  • Ability to organize materials and time and to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, employees, and representatives of other divisions and agencies to resolve fiscal and payroll issues.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, work independently to prioritize tasks, and maintain error-free work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
 
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician
 
OR
 
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician

None
