Job Summary
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is seeking a corporate paralegal for an immediate opening as Corporate Governance Liaison.? This position will provide support to CLIA’s Board of Directors, Global Executive Committee, and other committees on corporate governance matters and will report to CLIA’s Senior Vice President, Maritime Policy and secondarily to CLIA’s General Counsel, and will work with CLIA’s CEO, senior staff and leaders in national and international regional offices. The individual will also interact with members of CLIA’s Board of Directors, committee members, and executives, as needed to perform their duties. The position is for CLIA’s global headquarters in Washington D.C.
Responsibilities:
This position will involve the following responsibilities:
• Attend Board of Director and CLIA committee meetings and promptly draft corporate minutes.
• Responsible for assisting with the ongoing corporate maintenance for CLIA and its international affiliates in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australasia, including coordination of required meetings, corporate filing responsibilities, elections of officers, annual registrations, and any other reporting obligations pursuant to regional corporate Bylaws.
• Research and gather factual information relative to the activities of CLIA’s Board of Directors and Global Executive Committee; coordinate required committee meetings in CLIA offices worldwide and provide general assistance to CLIA staff as needed.
• Proactively keep the CLIA CEO and Global Executive Committee informed of potential non-compliance issues
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills Abilities:
• Superb attention to detail and the ability to exercise discretion and meet tight deadlines.
• Able to work on a variety of projects with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in writing.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Willingness to accept tasks and projects outside the normal scope of basic responsibilities.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.?
• At least four years of job-related work experience in corporate governance matters as a paralegal or legal assistant preferred.
• Paralegal or legal assistant certification from ABA or other accredited program preferred but not required.
Work Environment
- This position is based in our Washington DC office with three to four days onsite.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Required Travel
- 10% - Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required in support of the CEO, Board of Directors, Global Executive Committee governance committee.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
