Executive Assistant United States Attorney

Serves as the Executive Assistant United States Attorney (EAUSA) reporting to the United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington. The EAUSA will work closely with the United States Attorney on a variety of office policy and strategic initiatives, will work as part of the leadership team, and may perform supervisory duties. Other responsibilities may include speaking to a variety of audiences on matters relating to the office and working with other components in the Department of Justice or with the Federal Courts on issues affecting the office. In addition, the EAUSA may be given primary responsibility for cases in either the Civil or Criminal Divisions.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree and be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction).

United States citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred applicant must exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff, and client agencies. Thus, the ideal candidate has a positive history of working collaboratively both with colleagues, and with various interested parties. These would include community groups, victims, witnesses, client entities, courts, bar associations and law enforcement entities. The ideal candidate has substantive trial experience in complex cases, including trial experience in both civil and criminal law.
