Duties
Serves under the supervision of the Associate Warden. Responsible for the preparation and serving of all inmate meals (to include medical, religious and regular diets) on a daily basis. Helps develop, maintain, and monitor goals and objectives established to accomplish the Food Service mission of the Bureau of Prisons. Must know and understand the methods and objectives of custody and discipline as it applies to inmates and must also be familiar with Bureau and institutional policies, rules, procedures and practices. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-12 and GS-13: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. OR Experience: GS-12 and GS-13: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Such experience must have demonstrated: GS-12: Experience in managing a large food service operation, ensuring food is prepared in compliance with the best cooking, baking and meat cutting principles and that food is palatable, of proper consistency and temperature. Experience in setting up work schedules for subordinates and inmates working in scheduled shifts. Experience in supervising the operation of a large subsistence storeroom plus large meat and vegetable coolers. Experience in interviewing and assigning workers to specific details taking into regard their experience, interests and abilities. GS-13: Experience in planning the layout and design of the department and determining equipment requirements. Experience in providing specialized programs and functions such as satellite feeding, medical/religious diets, and vocational training. Experience in supervising the operation of a large subsistence storeroom plus large meat and vegetable coolers and monitoring the quality and condition of the products upon delivery. Experience in developing detailed estimates and initial requests for funds required to operate the department and monitoring the expenditure of all funds. Other Information
This position IS NOT included in the bargaining unit. In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for initial appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution. The representative rate for this position is $130,291 per annum ($62.43 per hour). Special Conditions of Employment Section: Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period. The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks. All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm. The Core Value Assessment (CVA) is an in-person assessment that must be facilitated at a Bureau of Prisons Human Resource Servicing office. On the day of the scheduled interview, a CVA will be administered. The applicant assessment must be completed within a 70 minute time period and a passing score of 68 must be obtained. Further employment consideration will not be extended if the applicant fails to complete the examination or fails to achieve a passing score. Note: The Core Value Assessment will not be administered to current BOP employees. Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques," three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.
