The AOC has unique and exciting opportunities to serve as a Law Clerk during the Summer Internship Program, which offers hands on professional experience, networking, training and most of all exposure to careers in public service, on Capitol Hill.
Duties
Law Clerk
This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the Office of General Counsel (OGC), conducting legal research and writing; preparing pretrial discovery, draft motions and briefs, and assisting with conducting direct and cross-examination of witnesses; drafting memoranda of understanding; performing clerical and administrative functions; and conducting special projects.
Salary- $17/hour
- You must be able to pass a drug test.
- Your resume and question responses must demonstrate the job-related KSAs.
- You must meet the requirements for the summer internship.
To be eligible, you must be a current first or second year law school student.
Note: Participation in the Summer Intern Employment Program is limited to a total of three years. Candidates are eligible to participate no more than three years, collectively or consecutively, in the Summer Intern Employment Program. Candidates who have reached the three years in the program will be deemed ineligible to participate this calendar year.
Must be at least 16 years of age by June 30, 2026.
Qualifications
The OGC is interested in law students with a knowledge of or interest in the federal practice of law and litigation. Candidates must be currently enrolled in law school as a 1st or 2nd year law student, be in good academic standing, and possess strong research and writing skills.
All students MUST be U.S. Citizens.

This is an Excepted Service Position in the Architect of the Capitol, a Legislative Branch agency of the Federal government. The position does not require or confer civil service Competitive Status.
