Job Description

ICON is seeking a resourceful, proactive, detail-oriented Paralegal to join our growing legal team. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and is excited to support a wide range of legal and operational functions. From contract lifecycle management to corporate governance, government contracting, and legal process improvements, this role offers variety, impact, and growth. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated to add value without waiting for direction. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus and will report to our Associate General Counsel.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with the legal team to support ICON’s needs across technology, product, design, build, manufacturing, supply chain, and R&D teams.
  • Support the drafting, organization, and review of contracts and legal documents, including NDAs, commercial agreements, and licensing materials.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams to proactively identify legal support needs.
  • Act as project manager for cross-functional legal initiatives (e.g., compliance rollouts, contract system migrations, policy updates).
  • Maintain and improve legal team processes, systems, and documentation using modern tools and platforms.
  • Help build scalable processes that support ICON’s rapid growth and product innovation. Identify gaps or bottlenecks in legal workflows and implement improvements to support team scale.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare internal reports or summaries on key issues as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience, with a focus on intellectual property, preferably at a technology or high-growth company.
  • Tech-forward and process-minded with the ability to be comfortable with legal technology platforms and enjoy improving how work gets done.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; you can clearly and confidently interact with attorneys, engineers, and executives alike.
  • Collaborative and solutions-oriented, with a proactive mindset and a drive to add value beyond the task at hand.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience managing intellectual property portfolios, including intellectual property filings, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights, both domestic and international 
  • Experience supporting a legal team at a startup or rapidly scaling business.
  • Familiarity with legal issues related to real estate transactions, government contracts and data use. 
  • Exposure to commercial contract workflows, including contract lifecycle management tools (CLMs).
