Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Cyber Claims Counsel on our North America Cyber Claims team.

As a Cyber Claims Counsel, you will enhance the professional liability claims team supporting the U.S. Sompo Pro business unit. You will also provide expert insight and analysis on complex, high-profile, and high-exposure Cyber, Media, and Technology claims.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage and resolve complex Cyber, Media, and Technology claims with a strategic and solution-oriented approach

• Conduct in-depth coverage, liability, and damages analysis to drive informed decision-making

• Identify emerging exposures and claim trends, providing insightful written assessments to the Sompo Pro business unit

• Serve as a key resource for underwriting and senior management, offering guidance on coverage questions and claim-related challenges

• Draft and refine Professional Lines policies to align with evolving industry standards

• Represent the company at client meetings, mediations, external engagements, and industry events to strengthen relationships and industry presence

• Contribute to the success of the Global Sompo Claims Team by collaborating on high-impact projects, attending industry conferences (potentially as a speaker or presenter), publishing insights on emerging claim trends, and supporting complex claims across global offices

• Foster strong communication and collaboration across underwriting and other internal teams to enhance business alignment and operational efficiency

What you’ll bring:

• Preferred 2-5 years of experience in E&O, Cyber, Tech, Media, or D&O claims at a commercial insurance company and/or a law firm

• Juris Doctor degree required

• Expertise in coverage, liability, and damages analysis for complex claims

• Direct handling of primary and excess E&O claims, ideally in Cyber, Media, and Tech

• Strong experience in attending mediations, negotiating settlements, and policy drafting

• Ability to collaborate closely with underwriting, actuarial, and legal teams

• Proven ability to negotiate, organize, and manage resources effectively while delivering superior client service

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and claims systems such as Guidewire, Genius, ImageRight are a plus

• Candidates may be asked to provide writing samples

Salary Range: $110,000 – $155,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
