Western National Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Counsel Representative to join our team!
The individual in this role will have the opportunity to perform legal work including conducting research, reviewing policies, evaluating contracts and conduct, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and overseeing litigation.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?
- Supports the ongoing implementation of the core business attributes of empowerment, accountability, and connectiveness.
- Handles civil litigation claims.
- Assists claims staff in evaluating legal matters and provides education to departments on relevant changes in the law or legal trends.
- Shares relevant information with those who may be affected by decisions.
- Communicates and interprets policies.
- Assists in developing procedures and formulates recommendations.
- Consistently acts according to our customer experience standards by responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, demonstrating empathy, managing the customer’s expectations, using the proper communication channel for the situation, and taking ownership to ensure the customer’s issue is resolved.
What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry practices, standards, and claims concepts.
- Ability to anticipate legal obstacles and challenges and strategize plans to address them.
- Skillfully negotiate complex settlements.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
- Ability to travel to home office when appropriate.
What will our ideal candidate have?
- The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
- J.D. degree and admission to the Minnesota Bar required; Washington Bar admission preferred.
- Five-plus years of claims litigation experience.
Compensation overview
The full hiring range for this role $81,400 – $111,980, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.
