OrthoCarolina is looking for a Paralegal to join our OrthoCarolina Administrative team.   

The Paralegal will provide legal and administrative assistance to the Chief Legal Officer. Assisting with day-to-day legal and administrative work including document preparation, contracts, mergers/acquisitions, corporate transactions, legal and regulatory research, compliance projects and related projects. This role is eligible for hybrid work. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Draft, review, and maintain legal documents including practitioner agreements, business associate agreements, hospital agreements, and vendor contracts.  

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and CMS guidance.  

  • Assist with litigation support, including subpoena responses, discovery coordination, and document management.  

  • Support compliance initiatives, audits, and internal investigations by organizing documentation and tracking regulatory deadlines.  

  • Manage corporate governance documentation, including board minutes, licensure and entity filings, and entity records.  

  • Maintain legal databases, legal hold files, and contract lifecycle systems.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree . 

  • Minimum of 5 years as a legal assistant/paralegal working closely with senior level attorney(s) in a law firm or corporate legal environment  

  • 3 years of experience in healthcare law or associated field of law; 

  • Knowledge of the healthcare regulatory environment and relevant statutes; 

  • Knowledge of legal principles, practices, terminology and research techniques.
