POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting in maintaining the HDS Fraud and Abuse program. Assists the General Counsel in supporting the legal affairs, compliance and risk management areas of the organization. Develops, implements and monitors the HDS Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, the HDS Enterprise Content Management (ECM) program and the HDS Business Continuity Plan (BCP). Prepares and maintains litigation databases, case schedules, and files.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Paralegal
- Performs legal research including identifying relevant statutes, legal articles, and case law.
- Review subpoenas and document requests.
- Assist with discovery requests.
- Draft contracts and perform contract reviews.
- Assist with corporate registration filings.
- Organize litigation and case files.
- Process outside counsel invoices.
- Review new and updated laws and regulations.
- Assistance with Board Governance
- Assist with maintaining board records and corporate governance documents.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with corporate governance guidelines and legal requirements.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- System and Organization Control (SOC) Engagements - Work collaboratively with other departments for SOC 1 and SOC 2 report filings.
- Insurance Program Management
- Assists with insurance policy procurement and renewals.
- Assists with obtaining insurance related documents.
- DS Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
- Assists the General Counsel in developing the ERM program.
- Implements and coordinates all the ERM program-related activities.
- HDS Enterprise Content Management (ECM)
- Assists the General Counsel in developing the ECM program.
- Implements and coordinates all the ECM program-related activities.
- Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and completes special projects.
- Manages the retention and disposal of official records, in accordance with the company’s Records Retention Schedule.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance) or Health Related field.
Experience
Three (3) or more years of legal experience.
License/Certification
Paralegal certification preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Well-developed understanding of data analysis techniques and practices.
- Ability to analyze complex topics and issues and recommend solutions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and fluently in writing and orally with participating dentists and HDS management on sensitive matters.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues and materials.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Technical knowledge to understand computer applications for data analysis and problem-solving.
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license and personal transportation vehicle needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid – part time in the office and part-time at home. During the orientation period, it may be required to work 100% in the office, until successfully completing the orientation period.
- Monday - Friday, evening and weekend work may be required.
