Brandeis University is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Office of the General Counsel, providing critical support to a small legal team handling a wide array of university legal matters.

What You Will Do
- Provide high-level administrative support to lawyers in dealing with university legal matters.
- Manage office budget, oversee reimbursements and expenses.
- Manage logistics of meetings with internal and external stakeholders and outside counsel.
- Communicate with university employees and counsel on various aspects of case proceedings, including, but not limited to, discovery and legal holds.
- Locate, develop, and manage case relevant information.
- Serve as point of contact for office, communicating professionally with university employees, outside counsel, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and assist with creation of documents including memoranda, pleadings, discovery, agency submissions, motions, briefs, and exhibits.
- Create and maintain electronic filing and paper organizational systems for each matter.
- Manage attorneys’ schedules and calendars.
- Provide administrative support for General Counsel’s work with the Board of Trustees, including preparing meeting agendas and assembling committee materials.
- Maintain database of university policies and assist in supporting General Counsel’s work with university’s Policy Review Committee.
- Conduct basic legal research and obtain legal filings and research materials from online and court databases.

What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent legal experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal—preferably in litigation.
- Working knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
- Proficiency in Workday, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, PACER, and electronic court filing systems (ECF).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and discretion.
