Job Description

Job Title: Legal Assistant - Workers' Compensation Classification: FT - Non- Exempt

Department: Workers' Compensation Support Team

Horwitz, Horwitz, and Associates is a progressive family-owned law firm, located in Chicago's loop, who has represented Illinois' injured for over three generations. We are passionate about seeking justice for those who have been injured and who may have been previously denied representation. We are seeking to fill the role of Worker's Compensation Paralegal/Trial Preparation with our Firm.

About the Role:

The Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant is self-motivated, focused, and completes tasks in a thorough and efficient manner. The person in this role supports and works very closely with the Workers' Comp Attorney(s) in all day to day tasks and provides an outstanding client experience for the injured workers. The ideal candidate has strong time management skills and is able to effectively manage conflicting priorities, while understanding the needs of both the client and Attorney.

Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain a high-volume case load as the primary support team member to the Attorney
  • Act as a liaison between the client and Attorney providing an excellent client experience
  • Effectively communicate with the clients while demonstrating empathy and understanding of their case
  • Efficiently and effectively complete all assignments, tasks, and client calls
  • Recognize and communicate escalated or urgent matters to Attorney in a timely manner
  • Process and distribute all incoming and outgoing checks for clients
  • Schedule client visits when needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Attorney or leadership team

Success Factors /Qualifications:

  • : 1-year minimum experience in a Legal Assistant/Case Manager role
  • REQUIRED: 1- year minimum experience in Workers' Compensation or Personal Injury
  • Able to work both independently and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Self- motivated and goal driven
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Efficient with time management and deadline conscious
  • Superior attention to detail and a high level of organization skills
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service to both internally and externally
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in Spanish is a plus

Salary & Benefits:

  • Compensation range is $50,000 - $62,000 annually and depends on experience
