POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Manager, Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. This role will be responsible for supporting the company’s contracting processes, including the review, negotiation, and execution of a wide range of commercial agreements. Additionally, the position will provide strategic and operational support to the litigation team on active and potential legal matters.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Contracting & Commercial Support
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including vendor agreements, NDAs, service agreements, and technology-related contracts
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts align with business objectives and legal risk tolerance
Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements to streamline legal operations
Provide training and guidance to business teams on contract policies and procedures
Litigation Support
Assist in managing litigation matters, including coordinating with outside counsel, gathering internal documentation, supporting discovery efforts, and attending hearings, depositions, and meditations
Evaluate claims, prepare case assessments, and advise on potential exposure and settlement strategy
Draft and negotiate settlement agreements, severance agreements, and related documentation
Support internal investigations and dispute resolution efforts
Help maintain litigation databases and case tracking systems
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in Ohio or at least one other state, with an ability to become licensed in Ohio
2+ years of legal experience
Experience in contract negotiation and commercial transactions
Exposure to litigation management and dispute resolution. Experience with employment litigation is a plus
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
