The Victim Witness Supervisor leads the Victim Witness Program, ensuring victims and witnesses receive the guidance, advocacy, and protections guaranteed under Chapter 950 of the Wisconsin Statutes. This role works closely with the District Attorney’s Office to support victims’ rights, strengthen community partnerships, and help individuals navigate the court process with confidence. - Essential Duties
Supervise and coordinate the work of Victim/Witness Program staff.
Develop, implement, and evaluate office procedures to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and operational efficiency.
Participate in recruitment, hiring, training, performance evaluation, and discipline of program staff.
Provide training and mentorship to employees, interns, and volunteers.
Provide victims and witnesses with information regarding their rights and services under Wisconsin Chapter 950 and related statutes.
Offer advocacy, emotional support, referrals, and information regarding available community resources.
Assist victims in applying for benefits through the Victim Compensation Program.
Communicate with witnesses regarding case status and help address barriers to court participation.
Assist prosecutors with witness coordination and support.
Maintain strong working relationships with law enforcement, community service providers, and justice system partners.
Collaborate with community organizations including Safe Harbor, probation and parole, and other agencies to enhance services for victims.
Participate in the Sheboygan County Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
Provide public presentations and education on victim rights, the court process, and the impact of crime.
Prepare and administer the Victim/Witness Program budget in coordination with the District Attorney’s Office.
Prepare and submit reimbursement claims to the State of Wisconsin.
Complete and submit required reports, including the annual report to the Office of Crime Victim Services.
Maintain compliance with state credentialing requirements and professional standards.
Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, sociology, psychology, political science, or a related field preferred
Minimum of three years of professional experience in criminal justice, victim services, social services, or a related field
Knowledge of the criminal justice system and victim service resources.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to supervise and lead staff in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Proficiency with computer systems and case management software.
- Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in both office settings and community locations.
Some travel may be required.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Must be able to manage difficult or emotionally charged situations professionally.
Low risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
