Job Description

About The L Suite Community

The L Suite is the leading community for General Counsel and their teams, with over 6,000 legal in-house members including General Counsel and their deputy general counsel, senior counsel and legal ops team members.

We offer more than just content – we’re building the infrastructure to help lawyers work faster, smarter, and more confidently with AI. That includes a legal community platform powered by AI, along with training, workflows, playbooks, and GPTs tailored for the modern legal department. We’re helping our members go from “What’s a prompt?” to “Here’s how we save hundreds of hours a month with ambient agents.” Now, we’re hiring a Director of Applied AI to take this to the next level.

About the Role

As Director of Applied AI, Legal, you will sit at the intersection of legal practice, AI systems, and community leadership. Your goal will be to continue to build The L Suite the go-to destination for in-house lawyers to learn, adopt, and lead with AI. You’ll design and lead human evaluations of our tools. You’ll help build the next generation of in-house legal agents, GPTs, and playbooks. You’ll train lawyers on how to use AI effectively. And you’ll represent The L Suite publicly as a trusted voice on how legal teams should be using (and shaping) these tools.

Why this Role Matters
At The L Suite, we’re shaping the future of legal work. As Director of Applied AI, you’ll help legal leaders do more than keep up with AI. You’ll help them lead—and you'll help make The L Suite the trusted home for every lawyer asking: How do I actually use this stuff?

About The Suite

We are a team of 80+ of the world’s greatest community builders and technologists.

We build high-quality and highly-curated professional communities. We run three of these communities today, including our flagship The L Suite, which is a private, invite-only community for General Counsels / Chief Legal Officers and their teams at high-growth tech companies and venture funds.

We currently have 5,000+ active members across our communities, representing C-Suite executives and their deputies from most of today’s leading tech companies (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Airbnb, Slack, Coinbase, Uber, Notion, Bolt, Figma, Airtable, Dropbox, Bilt, Datadog, etc.) and venture funds (e.g., a16z, Softbank, Tiger, Accel, Thrive, Battery Ventures, FirstMark, Kleiner Perkins, Insight, etc.).

Each of our communities is unique, but they are all underpinned by our custom-built member platform - the Braintrust. The Braintrust has rapidly emerged as the next evolution of the professional community platform, powering real-time conversations with the right peers at the right time as well as personalized research, insights, and strategies. The Braintrust is one of the strategic pillars supporting our mission to help today’s business leaders excel in their jobs with better and faster answers to their most pressing challenges.

We are a well-funded, profitable, and rapidly scaling startup with a high-impact team.

What Makes Us Unique

We fill a painful hole in the market at an unprecedented time in history. As executives are being pressured to “do more with less” while at the same time navigating an increasingly complex business environment, the right information and perspective has become harder and harder to find. The dominant networking platforms of the day are too broad and diluted to be effective resources, and it has become difficult to parse through the noise and misinformation to hone in on what really matters. Executives are rapidly retreating back to private, trusted communities for their information, support, and their most interesting conversations.

That’s where we come in. We connect executives to their most valuable resource - their peers - through a highly-curated collection of professional communities. In addition to attending live events, our members get access to the Braintrust, which is a comprehensive research and curated networking platform. After logging in, members are immediately connected with their closest peers, and are able to leverage their knowledge and experience for advice, service provider recommendations, benchmarking data, peer coaching/mentorship, and much more. The Braintrust also features a resource library with hundreds of educational videos, templates, and other materials from our community events. The Braintrust is already in-market, with significant user engagement and revenue.
