As Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Rights Enforcement, you'll be responsible for general rights enforcement and litigation strategy and support for Concord, in coordination with business-unit EVPs within the Business & Legal Affairs department. Work under direct supervision of the General Counsel.
Core Responsibilities:
- Music Copyright Enforcement: Develop and execute strategies to protect and enforce Concord’s music rights
- Litigation & Disputes: Oversee and manage copyright infringement claims and other IP-related controversies, in coordination with business units
- Industry Developments: Stay informed, and lead internal education on, copyright law developments, relevant regulatory changes, relevant industry actions, and enforcement trends
What you’ll do:
- Manage defensive and offensive copyright infringement and related IP claims and suits, in close coordination with Concord business units and other senior Business & Legal Affairs lawyers
- Coordinate and oversee outside counsel on controversy matters
- Prepare cease and desist and other infringement and collection notices
- Manage and organize electronic and physical case files, including tracking deadlines and monitoring case schedules
- Lead internal efforts around document production and e-discovery, including responding to production requests, coordinating with outside vendors, and reviewing and analyzing documents
- Manage communication regarding litigation and rights enforcement matters (both Concord-specific and other relevant matters within the music industry) for Concord management and Board, including preparation of summaries and presentations
- Maintain comprehensive litigation tracker
- Work with internal business divisions to identify and pursue or otherwise assist with rights enforcement matters
- Manage and track litigation holds
- Performs other related duties as assigned
What you’ll need:
- Experienced attorney with 8-10 years controversy and music industry experience, with deep knowledge of recorded music and music publishing transactions and IP rights
- D., admitted to the bar in TN, NY and/or CA
- Superb accuracy, extreme detail-orientation, and strong follow-up skills
- Motivated, enthusiastic and organized individual who enjoys working in a friendly but fast-paced team environment
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Experience leading and motivating a team
- Excellent judgement and interpersonal skills, with ability to interface directly and professionally with senior executives, outside counsel, and third parties
*This job is hybrid- requiring 3 days a week minimum on site.
