The South Carolina Judicial Branch is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrative Coordinator II to join our Court Interpreting Program. This role plays a key part in supporting language access and ADA initiatives across the state through both legal and administrative functions.Under the supervision of the Court Interpreter Manager, this position provides exceptional administrative and legal support for the Court Interpreting Program and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) initiatives within the South Carolina Judicial Branch (SCJB).
This role requires frequent interaction with appellate and trial court judges, solicitors, attorneys, interpreters, clerks of court, and judicial branch staff across the state. The Administrative Coordinator will collaborate with multiple divisions, including Trial Court Services, Court Education, Public Information, Information Technology, and Court Reporting and Interpreting, to ensure smooth daily operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

- Serve as primary administrative support for the Court Interpreting Program while also providing legal support for ADA compliance.
- Communicate effectively with justices, judges, attorneys, litigants, and staff both verbally and in writing.
- Respond to inquiries via telephone, mail, and email related to the Court Interpreting Program and ADA matters.
- Assist with scheduling staff interpreters across counties and coordinate freelance interpreters as needed.
- Support ADA complaint and inquiry processes, including translation requests.
- Conduct legal research related to Language Access, Court Interpreting, and ADA matters.
- Draft, prepare, and process legal documents, orders, and notices.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes affecting language access and ADA compliance.
- Maintain accurate rosters, calendars, and statewide information regarding trial court operations and closures.
- Organize and maintain legal and administrative documents in both paper and electronic formats; proficiently use OnBase.
- Prepare reports and track legislative changes related to court interpreters.
- Assist with the South Carolina Court Interpreter Certification Program (SCCICP) updates, including drafting policies, procedures, and rules in collaboration with staff attorneys.
- Support special projects, research initiatives, and data collection for the Court Interpreting Program and ADA compliance.
- Tasks require light physical effort, including occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.
- Requires extended periods of sitting, as well as use of a keyboard or workstation.
- Standard office environment; occasional statewide collaboration with staff and partners.
- Minimum and Additional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and relevant administrative/legal support experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform legal research and draft professional legal documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems (OnBase preferred).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Knowledge of the South Carolina Unified Judicial System.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform legal research using appropriate methods, source materials, and established policies and precedents.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with judges, attorneys, court personnel, and staff at all levels.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while executing responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a law firm, court system, or other legal environment.
- Experience with OnBase or similar case/file management software.
- Knowledge of court operations, legal terminology, and ADA regulations.
- Familiarity with interpreter programs, language access policies, or ADA compliance processes.
