Job Description

The Client Experience Office (CXO) at Simpson Thacher is a new, cross-functional, cross-disciplinary team designed to elevate how we serve our most important clients. As a Client Engagement Manager (CEM), a newly envisioned role, you will operate as a strategic integrator and central orchestrator across internal teams and client touchpoints—ensuring precision, transparency, and excellence in how the Firm supports partners in stewarding each stage of the client relationship.

This high-impact role is ideal for an analytical, service-minded, and execution-oriented professional who thrives in dynamic, high-accountability environments. The CEM will help shape our CXO pilot implementation with one of the Firm’s top clients, setting the gold standard for how Simpson delivers seamless and proactive support to major clients.

  • Lead operational coordination and support across legal teams, Partners, Business Development, Communications, and Operations, ensuring that partners are equipped with the information, alignment and execution support they need to lead client relationships.

  • Drive team meeting rhythms, agendas, and follow-up across the client lifecycle.

  • Track internal activity and ensure the client experience, including partners’ client engagement, is orchestrated not reactive.

  • Ensure that critical data, updates and insights are actively shared across all teams serving the client, fostering seamless collaboration and a unified service experience that reflects an integrated, firmwide understanding of the client’s needs and priorities.

Strategic Insight Activation

  • Collaborate with CXO peers and support the Director, Strategic Client Relationships, to develop “Only Simpson” deliverables—custom client updates, legal landscape maps, market insights, etc.

  • Connect the dots between internal firm knowledge and external client-facing opportunities.

  • Anticipate needs and proactively bring ideas, briefings, or introductions to Partners before the client requests them.

Relationship Stewardship & Point-of-Contact Alignment

  • Support and amplify the relationship Partners’ leadership and client relationships.

  • Work with the Director, Strategic Client Relationships to ensure alignment between client-facing contacts and the designated client relationship partner(s), especially on sensitive topics like billing, staffing, or communications cadence.

  • Serve as the operational hub for relationship logistics—partner preferences, client org charts, engagement protocols, and key milestones—ensuring partners are fully supported in delivering a seamless client experience.

  • Identify risks or opportunities that require escalation or coordination across practices.

  • Ensure all communications, planning, and materials are coordinated in partnership with and at the direction of the relationship partners.

Visibility & Coordination Across the Client Team

  • Maintain a live Client Health Dashboard capturing who is working with whom, on what, and when—ensuring visibility across practices and functions.

  • In the pilot for our key client, track engagements across divisions (e.g., real estate, credit, funds, M&A) and proactively surface overlaps or connection points

  • Support leadership with a full picture of the Firm’s activity so they can act strategically, not just responsively
