Job Summary:
Assists District Attorney in the Family Violence Division and victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking with the protective order process. Provides administrative support to department, public and other departments to ensure effective, efficient, and productive workflow. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responds to incoming telephone calls and in-person requests from the public, County employees, attorneys, and staff members, provides assistance and/or directs to the appropriate person.
- Prepares legal paperwork for court proceedings; Takes statements of victims when assigned; Inputs cases and related data to computer and prepares reports from same data; Monitors database information system.
- Interacts with law enforcement, its liaisons, shelters, counselors and Adult & Children’s Protective Services and any organization that is essential to a victim’s well-being.
- Proves assistance to the attorneys in the Family Violence Division including preparing pleadings, preparing subpoenas, acting as a victim/witness liaison, obtaining offense reports and other case preparation tasks as needed.
- Assists those that provide victims with referrals to a safe haven, directs them to make police reports and directs victims to resources for Emergency Protective Orders.
- Participates in extracurricular organization to plan and work the annual domestic violence training conference.
- Serves as Notary Public.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED.
- 3 years job related experience.
- Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 40 wpm). Must have knowledge of Word and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal skills and ability to interact effectively with other employees and the public.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $17.95 - $22.44 hourly based on qualifications
CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
