JOB SUMMARY:
The Professional Development Coordinator (“PD Coordinator”) will assist in the planning, execution, and delivery of all pro bono, inclusion, and legal training programs, workshops, and related events. This role will collaborate internally with the Legal Recruiting & Professional Development (“LRPD”) team to support and implement the firm’s talent management strategies and initiatives. The PD Coordinator will act as a resource and interface with legal practitioners and business professionals across the firm to ensure effective communication and implementation of LRPD driven programs. This role requires consistent event and logistics coordination, organization, and data tracking support. The PD Coordinator will report to the Director of Pro Bono and Inclusion Programs and will work closely with the Senior Manager of Legal Training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides in-person and virtual support for LRPD programming, initiatives, and trainings, including scheduling, presenter/vendor and attendee outreach, facilities and technology coordination, and placing catering orders.
- Maintains and updates LRPD databases, records, and calendars, ensuring information and materials are centralized, current, and accessible.
- Monitors and tracks data for LRPD led programming and shares pertinent information to enhance the experience of the firm’s legal practitioners.
- Keeps up with developments in the legal and IP industries, and stays knowledgeable about current pro bono, inclusion, and talent development related trends.
- Serves as the primary contact for the firm’s CLE processes, including the tracking of practitioner CLE credits and compliance (including attendance and completion of courses) and accreditation logistics for firm offered programs across multiple jurisdictions.
- Coordinates the flow and tracking of pro bono, inclusion, and public services related cases from intake to placement, as requested.
- Schedules affinity group meetings, maintains affinity group email lists, and handles other tasks relating to affinity groups.
- Contributes content and prepares drafts for LRPD newsletters and communications (both internal and external).
- Participates in onboarding process by attending welcome sessions and ensuring new hires have all pertinent information and are set up for success.
- Assists the LRPD team with the creation and implementation of various strategic initiatives and operational goals that align with the goals and needs strategy of the firm.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required, with 2+ years of experience in an administrative or coordination role, ideally within professional development, CLE administration, legal operations, or a role focused on social impact projects.
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional CLE requirements, tracking, and compliance management is a plus.
- Creative thinker and self-starter with the ability to maximize the use of existing resources.
- Established proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SharePoint and Aderant; knowledge of electronic databases, such as CE Manager and UKG, are a plus.
- Highly computer literate, and comfortable with learning new technology and working in databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage effectively and meaningfully across all levels of the firm.
- Detail-oriented; demonstrating strong organizational, project, and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight and changing deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Sound judgment and business acumen, capable of problem-solving, exercising discretion, and staying calm and effective under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-service mindset, capable of building trust and collaborating across constituencies, both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible availability to meet business needs, including occasional evening events.
- Role will be based in our Boston office (hybrid), requiring in-office presence on designated days, and as requested by firm management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of matters and other firm business information.
