Attorney – Corporate, Technology & Insurance Regulatory Location: Frankenmuth, Michigan (Hybrid/Remote Considered) Experience: Minimum 5 years License: Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Michigan preferred) Position Summary Frankenmuth Insurance is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Corporate Legal & Compliance Department. This role will support a broad range of legal matters with a primary focus on property and casualty insurance operations, privacy, cybersecurity, emerging technology, AI governance, and complex contract negotiation. The attorney will work closely with business partners across the organization to proactively manage legal risk while supporting strategic initiatives and technology modernization. Key Responsibilities Provide legal counsel on property and casualty insurance matters, including regulatory, operational, and product-related issues. Advise on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity matters, including incident response support and compliance with evolving state and federal privacy laws. Support the Company’s use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, by assisting with governance frameworks, risk assessments, and regulatory considerations. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial, technology, vendor, and IT contracts, including SaaS and data-related agreements. Collaborate with business, IT, compliance, and security teams to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risk early in the project lifecycle. Assist with regulatory inquiries, examinations, and filings related to assigned areas of responsibility. Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting P&C insurers, privacy, cybersecurity, and AI, and provide practical guidance to stakeholders. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably in-house or with a law firm serving insurance or regulated financial services clients. Demonstrated experience in property and casualty insurance law. Strong background in privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance issues. Experience advising on or supporting AI or other emerging technology initiatives strongly preferred. Proven ability to negotiate and draft complex commercial and technology contracts. Practical, business-oriented mindset with strong judgment and attention to detail.
