About the Role:

A collaborative, remote-first law firm specializing in workers’ compensation defense is seeking 5 skilled attorneys to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will handle cases from inception through appeal, with full autonomy and support from experienced partners. The firm welcomes both experienced workers’ comp attorneys and civil litigators looking to pivot. Their comprehensive training program ensures smooth onboarding for those new to the practice area. Compensation is heavily bonus-driven, rewarding attorneys who exceed the 220 billable hours/month target and contribute to business development.

Core Responsibilities

  • Handle workers’ compensation defense cases from initial intake through appeal (including WCAB filings, discovery, depositions, and hearings)
  • Conduct early and ongoing case evaluation and valuation to advise clients on settlement vs. litigation strategy
  • Collaborate with partners and associates on complex case strategy and motion practice
  • Maintain strong relationships with claims adjusters, employers, and insurance carriers
  • Meet or exceed monthly billable target of 220 hours, with bonus incentives for overperformance and new file generation

Dealbreaker Requirements

  • Active California Bar membership in good standing

Core Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 1 to 30 years of legal experience — preferably in civil litigation, insurance defense, or workers’ compensation
  • Familiarity with California Workers’ Compensation Abode (WCAB) procedures and Labor Code
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload independently and meet billable expectations (220+ hours/month)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; personable demeanor for client/adjuster interaction
  • Comfortable working remotely with a distributed team across CA and NV

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • For transition attorneys: 1–2 years of civil litigation experience (e.g., personal injury, insurance defense), seeking to pivot into workers’ comp — training program available
  • For experienced practitioners: Prior workers’ comp defense background, with experience managing full caseloads from inception through appeal; conservative billing philosophy and strong independent judgment

Salary
  • $125,000 - $300,000/year
