Description
Echo Base is seeking a Director, Legal to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a high-performing attorney with 7–12 years of experience in corporate transactional work, including M&A, financings, and commercial contract law. We are looking for a self-starter with Big Law training or comparable experience, who thrives in fast-paced environments, works independently, and can manage end-to-end legal processes with minimal oversight.

The ideal candidate is a business-minded problem solver who is comfortable negotiating, structuring, and reviewing complex commercial agreements while providing practical legal advice across the company’s operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as legal counsel for Echo Base’s corporate and transactional matters.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial contracts, vendor agreements, partnership deals, and NDAs.
- Support M&A transactions, venture financing, and other strategic deals, including due diligence and closing processes.
- Advise senior management on corporate structure, risk mitigation, and strategic initiatives.
- Partner with internal teams to create templates, playbooks, and scalable processes to streamline legal workflows.
- Handle general corporate legal matters typical for a growth-stage company, including employment and operational contracts.
- Lead processes end-to-end with minimal supervision, acting as a trusted advisor to the executive team.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7–12 years of legal experience, with a strong background in transactional and contract law.
- Experience in M&A and/or financing transactions (preferred but not required).
- Big Law training or experience at a top-tier firm strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to handle complex commercial agreements and corporate matters independently.
- Strong interest in crypto, blockchain, and digital assets (prior experience in this area is a plus).
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Business-oriented mindset with the ability to balance legal risk with strategic objectives.
- JD from a top law school and active bar membership in good standing.
