The purpose of the renewable energy legal internship position is to develop law students that are pursuing a juris doctorate degree. Interns will be exposed to a variety of legal matters, transactions, disputes, projects and activities that occur within the renewable energy business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in law school and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly.
Responsibilities
- The legal intern upports the legal department in providing legal counsel and support to the renewable energy business of BHE Renewables; assists with evaluation and due diligence on potential investments, acquisitions and other business evaluations and performs research.
- Drafts reports, presentations, agreements, and correspondence; assists in the preparation of, permit applications, regulatory filings, pleadings and other documents.
- The legal intern also performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- The applicant must have completed at least one year of law school and be, currently enrolled in a law school working toward receiving a juris doctorate degree.
- Prior utility or energy industry experience helpful but not required.
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective project management skills.
- Effective analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects within tight deadlines.
- Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen.
