Job Description
- Summary
The Court Clerk is responsible for attending civil hearings and providing the Court with all required files and paperwork related to the designated caseload.
- Essential Duties
- Complete and distribute all paperwork related to caseload.
- Catalogue all exhibits related to caseload.
- Complete and distribute all paperwork related to Court hearings.
- Assist in implementing in-house computerization and upcoming criminal court computerization and the records management program.
- Assist support staff in docketing court sentencing on the computer and the taxing of related sentencing.
- Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
- Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Six months to one year of job-related experience and/or training.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow office protocol.
- Accurate and detail-oriented.
- Ability to coordinate and direct work assignments.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters.
- Basic skills to use a personal computer and various software packages.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice.
- Two to three years of experience in a court setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain focused on daily operations.
- Ability to establish priorities.
- Flexibility.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- General knowledge and understanding of County of Chester policies and procedures.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. Occasionally, the employee will need to walk, climb stairs, and lift or carry items weighing two to five pounds. On rare occasions, the employee will need to stand; reach above shoulders; bend at the waist or work bent at the waist; kneel, stoop, crouch or squat; climb a ladder; and twist or rotate at the waist.

Work Environment:- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
- Employee will spend 85% of the time sitting in a courtroom.
- Employee will spend 15% of the time sitting at a desk.
