
Senior Manager Claims Counsel - Management Liability
IAT Insurance Group See More Job Openings by This EmployerIAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Manager Claims Counsel in our Management Liability Claims Unit that can be located in any of our IAT locations.
The ideal candidate for this role will have five to seven years of experience as a claim professional with experience handling Management liability claims including, Employment Practices liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Fiduciary Liability, as well as Crime claims on a national basis.
This role works a hybrid schedule from any one of our IAT Offices. The hybrid schedule reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working Thursday and Friday remotely.
- Overseeing a team of Management Liability Claims Handlers (EPL, D&O, Fiduciary, and Crime) for Private and Non-Profit businesses based on Claim Guidelines.
- Guide team on all areas of Management Liability expertise, including coverage, reserving, resolution strategy, defense counsel management.
- Within authority limit, assist team to thoroughly analyze, investigate, negotiate and resolve all levels of severity claims.
- Assist Management in driving team metrics and being a leader of people.
- Work closely with team on broker and insured requests, coverage/counsel pushback and other various questions.
- Develops litigation/file disposition strategy. Attends mediations, settlement conferences and trials.
- Verifies/analyzes applicable coverage for the reported claims.
- Follow operational policies and procedures, including compliance, regulatory and performance and customer service standards.
- Bachelors’ degree and five to seven years management liability claim experience, including handling employment liability practices, directors & officers’ liability and fiduciary liability coverages or equivalent
- Equivalent is defined as having a JD
- If JD, properly licensed, registered or authorized, and in good standing, to practice law in the jurisdiction in which you will be working.
- Excellent coverage analysis skills with experience in drafting coverage position correspondence.
- Experience handling litigated files and direction of defense counsel.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Must be willing to travel, average 1 day a month.
- Licensure as required by respective state(s).
- Ability to analyze data, utilize sound judgment to draw conclusions and make supported decisions.
- Prior management experience is a Plus.
- To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
- Juris Doctorate
- CPCU and other insurance related studies are beneficial.
