About You
As a Communications Coordinator, you will support Legal Services, Policy Service, and Community College Services (P&L) by providing technical, administrative, and communications operations support for P&L. You will play a primary role in publishing, maintaining, and coordinating online communications for P&L. and assist in the planning and execution of various events (in person and online). You will work closely with attorneys, policy consultants, and other TASB staff. This position is a designated onsite role requiring the selected candidate to work at our TASB headquarters M-F, 8am-5pm.
A Typical Day
- Work with content authors for three departments to create, maintain, and update online resources.
- Review and edit handouts, articles, marketing materials, correspondence, and training materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and conformity with TASB, Legal Services, and generally accepted legal rules of style.
- Format and finalize the TASB School Law Update Newsletter, the Community College Newsletter, Legal Assistance Fund Annual Report and publish online.
- Prepare minutes for quarterly board meetings.
- Work with team members to plan and provide support for major training events held across the state.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Web Publishing: Post and update online materials, perform general online content maintenance, and publish and maintain materials for events.
- Editorial Support: Review public-facing publications and communications for citation, style, and general quality control.
- Marketing: Provide administrative support for the development of marketing materials and for marketing products and events.
- Event Support: Assist with session submissions, coordination with event planners and registrars, and communication coordination and planning for annual events.
- Publications and Presentations: Finalize print materials before posting online, including papers, books, and newsletters. Assist with PowerPoint development, review, and archiving.
- Newsletter memberships and subscriptions: Work with and maintain list of subscribers for newsletter distribution.
- BoardBook and Meeting Records: Assist with meetings of LAF and CSA by creating agendas and keeping minutes.
- Participate in professional development activities to develop knowledge in areas of web publishing, editorial support, and other areas needed to perform essential duties.
Skills for Success
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of office administration, administrative support, and/or legal assistant.
- Experience in one of these fields may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with web publishing software (kontent.ai), and database management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of office practices; administrative and technical procedures.
- Ability to manage projects, meet critical deadlines, and work with development teams.
- Strong technology skills in the area of website management and use of content management software.
- Exceptional oral/written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with word processing, Web publishing, database management systems, and presentation software.
- Excellent customer service and administrative skills.
- Ability to handle multi-line phone calls in busy environment.
- Typing skills: 45 wpm with at least 90% accuracy.
- ability to manage changing priorities, pay close attention to detail, and produce an accurate work product under minimal supervision with multiple distractions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships, be detail-oriented, and produce an accurate work product under minimal supervision with multiple distractions.

- Ability to travel (including overnight travel).
